Ego is conditioned mind. Be open to the never-ceasing voice in your head, or the condoned “thought-feeling-energy” more generally, and you discover a “I want it thus!” agenda behind it. How is it that we are able to spot the hidden agenda in others so easily while we have a harder time awaken to our own narrow-minded and self-glorifying storyline?
The eternal here and now has two gate keepers. One, we have to awaken to the inner agenda and two, we have to turn our back to it. In addiction this is the rock bottom moment where we are confronted with losing everything that is dear to us unless we turn course. In spirituality, it’s the moment of true creativity instead. We open ourselves up to a new way and as the Way appears we don’t think twice about leaving the old trodden path behind. It’s a no-brainer so to speak.
