Let Her Guide You

It is said that Tiger Wood's dad taught Tiger how to win tournaments early in his career. He raised the bar on him in the competition once he felt Tiger had the necessary confidence and maturity to deliver at a higher level. Yes, winning is an attitude, a skill that can be learned like everything else. If you still have something important to accomplish, go and get it tiger! Do not repress anything in the name of spirituality, or the demons will come and chase you.

Yet,  you may be surprised to hear this, but traveling a spiritual path is not that different from this goal-oriented living. You have a coach at hand with the Tao just as Tiger has. You are as straight-forward, yet you travel in peace. Your goal is to never let go of Her hand once you have felt it. Spirituality does not have to imply that you are a drifter. To the contrary, you are alert like a tiger looking for the clues inside of you and in the environment that surrounds you. With that alertness you will observe that the Tao always prepares you to be navigated through life just as should be.The ups and downs you face, the stress hormones and dopamine (the chemical that makes you happy) releases, everything sets the right mood for the next moment.

You may laugh, but even my coffee intake is regulated by the Tao. The other day I felt I needed a cup of coffee to lead a meeting early in the morning. Well, the Tao thought otherwise. After the first coffee machine broke down,  I did get the second machine to work, but I found that the milk had gone bad. So I decided that after two failed attempts I would perhaps be better off showing up at the meeting without coffee in my system. Surely this had to have an impact on my energy level, but I am sure it happened for a good reason that She knows about.

Being a spiritual path traveler is like having a personal Guide next to you; every step is being administered. Sure, you will have to do the walking and you will have to do the talking, but mostly you do know when you do the right thing by Her. And in those few occasions when you don't, you are shown where you can buy the flowers to apologize for your insensitivity. Being a spiritual traveler is as much about peace of mind as it is about success. We spiritual path travelers have fewer occasions to celebrate our "success" with a Tiger-style fist-pump, but we may feel "successful" a little more often than he does.  I can't tell what Tiger feels when he knocks in the winning put for yet another tournament victory, but I have a hunch it is just a spicier version of the happiness that I feel when I hold Her hand.
