Path to God: The 100 Percent Formula

I hang out with many spiritual friends. Over the years I have observed a curious pattern. Sometimes they show up and give passionate speeches, distribute empowering memes, befriend each other joyfully, but then they disappear again only to come back with more force a couple of weeks later. Why is that exactly?

We can be connected to our spiritual path nearly 100 percent of the time. Yet, we need to understand that we are as much part of earth as we are part of Heaven, but some find this hard to do. Fact of the matter is, the folks who disappear occasionally may be closer to the God than those who are always happy and full of sunshine.

The 100 Percent Formula

Here is the 100% formulae to stay connected to our path. We recognize the magic in our lover and friends; we see the spiritual purpose of our job; we literally see God in mundane activities. We accept that the glimpses of the Way are presents that are not always at our disposal, but we are always on the look-out.

Alecia Keys passionately exclaims, “Some people want it all, but I don’t want nothing at all, if it ain’t You, Baby”. That’s the look above! It’s beautiful but like a spiritual artist we should only sing our praises about what we see, not about what we want to see. Projecting love that isn’t there is spiritual by-passing.

The second important level of the 100 Percent Formula is the realization that ‘it is as it is’. Our body needs attention; we eat, we enjoy being attractive, we crave sex. Our soul has wants too. We desire to be popular. We may crave to have several lovers. Maybe we need professional expression of what we are all about.

‘It is as it is’ is spiritual. Accepting that earth is the stairways to Heaven is part of the Awakening journey. Our soul reminds us that we still have a job here to do before we are truly free is part of the Awakening journey. God is kind though, She has manifested earth for us to break free on the fastest path possible.

The last part of the 100 Percent Formula is to recognize when we have outgrown our earthly desires and when it is time to move on. The 19th Century Indian mystic Sri Ramakrishna used to say ‘not this, not that’ is our battle cry to God. It sounds so easy but unfortunately our spiritual super ego has a field day with this one.

Spiritual by-passing is when we undermine an authentic desire in the name of spirituality without being ready. This is our spiritual path, our heart will tell us when to let go, but not a day earlier otherwise our demons will come to the surface and have a field day with this repressed craving.

Some desires bind us, some desires set us free. That’s another way of stating the 100 Percent Formula. We have to embrace our desires here and now. We can’t just repress them in the name of spirituality and hope to get away with it. Yet, we can understand the spiritual purpose of love, abundance and our passions. We can also grasp ‘not this, not that’ when our desires interfere with our spiritual calling.

No one can be on the path 100 % of the time, but we can frequent it ever more often. We express our desires and discover how to marry our passions with purpose. We learn when we by-pass what is in the name of spirituality, The time when we wrongly judge what lies below, or mistakenly’ project our love.
