We say, the ego is the interference that separates us from God. For example, if it wasn’t for my lust, I would see what this woman is truly all about. Or, if it wasn’t for my greed, I would realize that my adversary at work is in fact my brother.
Defining our ego as the self-imposed interference keeping us from God appeals to our intellect but the concept is still caught in duality. From a unitive perspective we could say, our lust encourages us to take a good look at the woman who has an important message for us. Or, my adversary at work helps me discover the greed in me.
Viewing the ego as a rascal beats the villain concept because we put up less of a fight with an identity that doesn’t exist. When we are more likely to laugh at ourselves, we take the energy away from duality and are this able to transcend it. Isn’t lust and greed laughable once we are are a bit detached from it?
Let’s laugh until all self-imposed interferences vanish in hot air.
