Mirror, Mirror on the Wall ...

Snow white is one of my 3-year old's favorite stories, so I tell it often and tend to ask myself sometimes what exactly the evil stepmother could have done differently to avoid her miserable fate. When you are vain and looks matter to you, you just cannot help checking yourself out in the mirror. Actually, you could argue that it was the queen's job description to dress up beautifully and represent the kingdom with her stunning presence. Do not fight what attracts you, there is always an opportunity to express your desires in one way or another in accordance with your Tao.

Follow your passions as you like, but realize when you are deviating from your spiritual path. Addictions and  compulsive behaviours tell you that you are headed in the wrong direction. Interruptions and interferences as you pursue your passions also tell you when you have gone off-target. Like the addiction, they probably tell you that it is time to let go and move in a different direction. After all, we are here on earth school to learn that we are not that desire.

To go back to our story, the queen refused to accept that Snow white's beauty started to eclipse hers. The magic mirror tried telling her, but she refused to listen. You might say she saw the writing on the wall, but tried erasing it. Well, that's why we tell fairy tales, to avoid making similar mistakes.
