Vladimir Zeland in 'Transsurfing 4' puts the road towards addiction in a new light. He calls the activity of getting hooked as a energy loan. As you click on your pornography site, you feel the blood rushing through your veins and as you feel the alcohol kicking in, you suddenly feel calm, yet full of energy. Perhaps you can fill in the blanks for whatever it is that gets you hooked. You get an advance of energy and that is great; the only problem is that afterwards this negative energy system demands payments, and if you are unable to make the payment, that is to bear the withdrawal symptoms, you get hooked again in order to make the pain go away. The vicious cycle has started and over time, the interest rate payment is surging out of control and your life falls apart.
I have written several times on the addiction theme for the very reason that I myself had to disentangle a few negative energy fields. Once you understand this issue, why would you sign up for it? You probably have encountered exactly the same problem with credit card debt. If you pay all your bills on time, everything is fine. If you use credit card debt to smooth over a cash flow imbalance for a month or so, that's good too. But if you maintain ongoing credit card debt you face ever-rising interest rate payments. Why would anyone do this?
Our society frowns on most of the addictive activities, perhaps that's exactly the reason why the allure is so high. The more your super-ego demands to stop, the more power you give the demon inside yourself to continue. Think about the addictions not from this normative side, but from the energy perspective instead: why would you consciously undermine your energy level? I know that once you are hooked, all these insights are of little help. But so many before you have managed to disentangle themselves, why wouldn't you be able to? You have dug this hole for yourself, now start digging yourself out of it. I know it is rough, but just imagine how much energy you will have at your disposal when the loan is paid in full.
