Deepak Chopra had an interesting twist on Buddha's enlightenment path. Buddha had been meditating for a long time and at one point Lord Krishna Himself appeared and Buddha said to Him, "You have no idea how much I have been longing Thee."I know", Lord Krishna said smilingly. But then the Buddha said "But now you have to walk on, I have to finish my work."
I am not sure I could do that or would even be interested in doing that. If you have a chance to chat with God, why not to take the golden opportunity.
Nobody really knows what exactly Buddha experienced 2500 years ago, yet the Buddhist philosophy is often described as God-less. My own interpretation of the story is that the image of Lord Krishna may have been the same psychological illusion that Martin Luther experienced when he threw the inkwell at the face of the devil that appeared on the wall. If you say that the devil doesn't exist, then you also have to admit that the image of Lord Krishna has to be a mind trick. Buddha wanted to look for the Force behind all these psychological phenomenons. Based on all the descriptions I have seen, Buddha was a great scientist.
