Letting Go of Your Ego

The ego is a psychological force that has been quite useful from an evolutionary perspective, it is the one that kept us alive and kept our gene- pool going. It is probably fair to say that we are not exactly the off-springs of monks, at least not the genuine ones.

But now it is time to let go of this psychological force  if you like to see the One who lies behind this collective dream of ours. The question is only how given that this psychological force happens to be you, how can you let go of yourself? You can't, all you can do is to enter this meditative state, the Tao, that lets you merge with a Force that sidelines your ego. As you are connected with it, you are experiencing the flow and, temporarily, the ego is sidelined.

The ego will fight this waking up process. It was designed to ensure the individuality, that is what our evolutionary journey has been all about. You cannot fight this force, as you just can't fight yourself, but you can side-line it.'Be still and know that I am God', the bible says and that's it, the state of 'I Am'. As you are still, meditative, the force that brought you here over the last million years or so, has a time-out. You may now ask how exactly one gets still, and I would say that process is exactly what your personal spiritual path will be about. It is uniquely defined for your individual psychological needs, and it will get you there if you stick to it.
