The problem lies in the fact that we are always trying to secure ourselves, reassure ourselves that we are alright. We are constantly looking for something solid to hang on to.
(Choegyam Trungpa)
My profession in the financial industry has taught me that there is nothing to hang on to. You have to accept that you are naked, facing the probability that after you put in your trade you will look like an idiot. You even stop assessing what that probability is because you simply don't know. The ego is deadly afraid of insecurity and frantically searches for ways to hedge, secure and form alliances. Yet, once you accept your vulnerability and boldly put your best foot forward, let reality take care of you. If you search for God in order to find security you are unfortunately not likely to find anything. Saying no to your ego implies that you will have to face your fears. Only afterwards will a magical landscape open up to you.

If you trust God deeply then you find peace in every happening. There is nothing bad going to happen. Only Grace, only grace is going to happen
