Dancing with the Now

A thought is dead material. Anticipate a situation and you are wasting your mental energy. Life is always so different from all your mental stretching exercises. Some of you may have read Eckart Tolle's 'The Power of Now' and you probably intuitively got what he was describing, yet, I ask you, when exactly do you experience the now? Aren't you experiencing the now when you are together with someone who you love and accept unconditionally? You talk, you laugh, you mimic her facial expressions. You actually dance with her at that priceless moment. Similarly, you can get completely lost experiencing nature, art, music, work, a movie, a video game or whatever else it is that completely catches your attention.  A breathtaking experience does something more than taking your breath away: the now takes your thoughts away.

A Tao traveler is introduced to the now. Again and again the spiritual travelers learns that the unexpected is your friend, that every fearful anticipation is met with an unexpected turn. The Tao traveler learns that life is so much more than fiction and understands that unconditional openness to life is something one can look forward to. 'Be ye as little children', Jesus said. Well, that's what children do, they dance with the now without any preconceived notions. See for yourself, you are not to old to dance, are you?
