The Story of the Wise and the Restless

There was a wise man living in a hot climate. He spent his time reading and writing as he sat in the cool shade of a beautiful oasis, covered by the trees and soothed by the meditative sound of the stream running by next to him. And then there was the restless man, the person who had to prove things, who had to venture out in to the hot world to conquer women, to get things, to get status. He was just too busy to spend much time in the oasis, only from time to time when he was completely exhausted did he come and crashed next to the meditative men to recharge. But next morning when the sun hadn't come out completely and cooled by the morning dew, he ventured out again and resumed his business of being busy.

You cannot say that the wise man is smart and the restless man is stupid; in fact, they are the same, they just choose to spend their lives differently. If you are a Tao traveler you are indeed covered by a magnificent oasis, completely insulated from all the hustle and bustle. It is an ongoing choice to be there and you perhaps at different points have to work as hard as the restless soul to stay there. The road along the Tao is an equilibrium very much as the ordinary life is. In the ordinary life you are yanked around by the yin and yang forces of the universe, you are a part of the movie plot and you know it not. Along the Tao you are encouraged moment by moment to cut yourself loose from the script and as you do, it starts dawning on you that you are really a spectator sitting in the audience and that the film you are seeing is simply not for real. You can only make these connections that keep you on the path when you cut out all impurities out of your life, when you manage to heal all the different personalities within and make them whole in the process.

You can be wise and you can be restless, it is really your choice, there is no right or wrong in this decision. When you clean up your life, when you connect with the stream of the Tao, you see things; you make connections that the ordinary folks don't see. From there it is as simple as 1 2 3 to connect the dots. It can be hard work at times, but it is well worth it. No one can take this birthright away from you. When you sign up for it, powerful guides will come and show you the way. I invite you to make the journey with me. Why don't you pull up a chair and sit in the cool shade with me - it is so much fun.
