Let Your Shadow Make You Whole

There is only light and nothing else. On a rainy day when your world is covered with dark rain clouds, a plane penetrates through them and suddenly there is bright sunshine everywhere. And at night you are just sleeping on the side of earth that is not exposed to the light, but the sun is still shining. Dealing with the shadow is exactly light that. You are only light, yet you have to deal with the shadow very much like you have to deal with heavy rain or the darkness at night.

Your shadow is your mission statement. You have to deal with the anger that is erupting as somebody pricked your pain body buried deep inside. Or the hunger that you experience for something that you know is not good for your body and your soul. You have to confront the endless fears and worries or they will eat you alive. You have to experience the tainted perspectives that you have of your body or other people's bodies, you have to face the twisted intentions that you think others have towards you. You have to accept the hatred that you have for some openly and for many more instinctively. Deal with all these aspects of your personality, bring all the dark stuff out in the open and let the light shine these monsters way. Understand that today you are literally just a shadow of who you really are. When you have embraced the darkness inside, when you face it like a heroine, you will be so much more powerful and you will be able to shine as a whole individual, and yes, life will be joyful and full of love once you will be whole bearer of light. You have no choice in this my friend. Life encourages you day by day to dig out everything that you have so carefully hidden behind the carpet.

At work you dream of winning the lottery so that you can leave these annoying people behind. But alas, you never do. So you have to cope with these personalities that trigger anger in you and you have to face these circumstances that leave you worried and afraid. A select few win the jackpot, but they face their shadow in the desires they now can fulfill or the shady characters that they consequently attract. Everyone meets their shadow in their partner and their children. The shadow gets passed on by the parents. The child always has to do the spiritual homework the parents couldn't yet complete on their own. The more meaningful a person is to you, the more likely she will hold the key to your shadow. Life is your movie and the movie director will make sure that you don't leave the set prematurely.

Yes, dealing with your shadow it is hard work but there is just no alternative. A spiritual path is a process that makes you the sparkling diamond you are born to be. You know how a diamond is created, right? When a dark coal is exposed to a lot of pressure over long time periods this transformation occurs. We are all destined to become sparking diamonds so please deal with your shadow today instead of tomorrow. Let your spiritual path show you who you truly are rather than life forcing you to deal with it the hard way. When you make this inevitable growth process a conscious one instead of a subconscious you will be so much faster to arrive at your destination. The process will be so much more fun too.

Shadow work is a dance. Sure at the end you will have to say no to all unhealthy desires, have to cut out all distractions that keep you from God, have to let pass the anger emotion that is erupting in you and have to face the person and environment you are so afraid of. But you get to this stage by embracing the shadow, by understanding what it really wants. A whole person is someone who is open to every facet of her being. Shadow work is a dance because you engage with it and you will make a step towards the left, experience how it feels and what consequences it has, and then you make two steps to the right and compare notes. In this dance you will stop being afraid of your urges, you will stop fearing life because you understand it is just a giant virtual reality show to get you home. Eventually you will be walking to the light in a straight line but not before you have brought every facet of your being along. At this part of the journey there is no longer a choice in anything. There is only one voice, the one from your heart which says quietly "be love".

You will like the bearer of light that you become. She has all the aspects that you value so much in you right now, but she will be so much more lively, so much more fun and so much more creative. Let life, the Tao, show you who you really are and what you are capable of. Face everything that comes your way, leave out nothing even if our spiritual community frowns on some of these activities. If you truly have a spiritual mission God will show you how you can choose love in every situation and give you the creativity to get what you desire without undermining your spiritual path. It is a dance, and it is a new and passionate one so there will be a few missed steps along the way. But your partner will smile at you even when you bumped into her yet again and you will start over again until you finally move with the beat. Enjoy!
