At the end of a piano recital that Christian's boys attended, their music teacher gave a little speech about what music means to her. She said that for her music manages to communicate feelings that often are impossible to put into words. She added that it had happened to her that she told students to practice a particular part of a play in a particular mood, and when they returned a week later after days of hard practice, eager to play it, she had no recollection of that conversation anymore and suggested to play this section in a very different mood instead. Christian had to laugh. Today he understand perfectly what she is talking about whereas ten years ago he likely would have rolled his eyes in disbelief. Christian has gotten more in touch with his underlying feelings whereas in the olden days he was purely mind-driven.
When you walk the Way you understand that everything in your life is just a piece of a mosaic to help you understand the underlying "Leitmotif" of the Source. Feelings can connect you, but not always. Thoughts can connect you, but not always. Your soul siblings can connect you, but not always. Stillness can connect you, but not always. Energy can connect you, but not always. Have an open mind and be open to everything that comes your way. Become still as you are bombarded with millions of impressions that hit you all at the same time. Be as the sculpturer who looks at a giant rock and perceives the art hidden in it; all she has to do is to remove a few debris. That is what we do along the Way. We put the pieces of the mosaic together and stay connected with Her all the time. Your feelings put you in touch with the divine Leitmotif so please honor them.
People are often scared of their feeling; they dismiss them as irrational and have no idea how to deal with them. Getting in touch with your feelings is not that much different from dealing with your thoughts. You observe them, try to understand where they come from, maybe contemplate where they could lead you to, but most importantly, you just accept them as they are. Please don't tell yourself how you should feel. In doing so you are in conflict with what is. Let whatever mood there is come to the surface. You connect with yourself that way, just as the Way connects with you.
Allow yourself to be spontaneous. Act in accordance with how you feel. For example, I love walking in the nature on a whim, and always manage to find the time for it. Sometimes you act according to how you feel, while sometimes you act according to how you think; there is no wrong or right. We are not here to be perfect or avoid making mistakes, we are here to discover our Self. Being in tune with your mood is a good first step in that direction. See how your world lights up when you connect with your feelings!
