It was not sex that expelled Adam of Eve from paradise, quite to the contrary, that Ur-State was the happy coexistence of nature in which the lion lay peacefully next to the lamb. It wasn't knowledge either; knowledge does not preclude harmony as long as you don't make an end out of the means - to realize peace and happiness. No, the snake taught us how to create an image of us that seems appealing but distracts from our true divine mission. By running after the stuff that shines like gold on the horizon we trample on the diamonds right in front of our feet. God didn't expel us from the Garden of Eden, we temporarily lost sight of the fact that we are slumbering right in the midst of it.
When a little boy puts on a superman outfit to Halloween we think that he is cute. When the grown man schemes to become CEO of a Fortune 500 company he may be living his dream or he might create a nightmare for himself and many others. We are all blessed to be divine in our realm of influence, but we have to follow the diamond covered path in front of our feet. When we follow the temptation of the snake we will be sure to miss Heaven on earth right in our midst.
See the snake for what it is, an invite for a parallel universe that isn't quite as appealing as the one you are living in. Caress the snake, don't fight it, but then let it go. This is quite easy to do in fact. In the holy Now, all castles of the mind collapse into nothingness. No fantasy can match up to the awesome reality right in front of you. Realize this and the snake is gone forever.
