The Four Paths to God

As they approach me, so I receive them.
All paths, Arjuna, lead to Me.
(Lord Krishna, Bhagavad Gita)

Sadhguru tells a wonderful story about the different paths to God. Four spiritual aspirants are walking together. One spiritual philosopher, one seeker of divine love, one disciple of Christ, and one Buddhist monk. Now this in itself was quite an occurrence because normally these four spiritual disciplines have nothing to say to each other. The wisdom seeker looks down on devoted yogi as he sees the intellect as superior to emotions; the devoted yogi in fact couldn't care less. She is only in touch with her love for God and and loses very little sleep of what others think about her. The disciple of Christ wants to demonstrate with his life that everything and everywhere is love, though all the others think that he is somewhat naive. And the Buddhist monk believes that only perfect stillness can lead to God.

The four yogis were walking in the forest when it started raining. They started running looking for shelter. Soon they found an ancient temple which had just a roof but no walls surrounding it. So they went in it, but when the storm became more and more furious they edged closer together to stay warm. The wind was howling and the water was coming in from all sides. To get protection they all hugged each other and managed to sit together in just one tiny spot. Suddenly they felt something enormous happening. A huge energy rose and a fifth presence was there. God Himself had descended on them. They asked, "We all have pursued You for so long and nothing happened; why now? God replied, "At last the four of you got together. I have planned your union for a very long time."

The story of the four yogis is our story. Su Zhen and I couldn't be more different. My spiritual journey is one of reflection, Su Zhen's one of meditation. I see divine patterns outside of me, and serve the Way in the busy world of financial markets while Su Zhen draws her energy from nature and meditation and serves the Way with her meditation and healing sessions. I see my Self in others, Su Zhen hears her Guide when she becomes still. I heal situations with my presence, Su Zhen heals people with a mysterious power. So while it took us a while to understand where the other was coming from, we soon started realizing that together we in fact have a glimpse at wholeness very much as the four yogis had when they got caught in the rainstorm: East meets West, yin connects with yang, and meditation merges with contemplation.

You can experience the Lord's message for yourself. Every seeker gets glimpses of each spiritual dimension as they proceed on their homecoming journey. You have a unique gift to share, find it and stay on your Path. Become bold in your approach. You set the new path Home and help others to repeat your feat. Still, as you travel you will meet many like-minded travelers and you will intuitively understand where they are coming from. Eventually all paths merge into one, but until you get there, celebrate yours. Honor your starting point, messy as it seems to you. You are here for a reason, without you something big would be missing. Eventually though we all converge. Love is the unifying force - the universal language - that connects everyone and everything. Along the Way you cannot help but falling in love. Make the Way complete and join us.
