Awareness is the Way

Through the state of being-conscious, the life of supreme bliss can be attained at all times, and in all states, in this very world and in this very body.
(Sri Ramayana Darshanam)

Some people tell us how important it is to distinguish ‘good’ from ‘evil’, that we should be doing what is ‘right’, and quit doing what is ‘wrong’. Yet, we have been told this story since the dawn of humanity and still get haunted by our demons on a lonely full moon night. There must be a better way!

Some people tell the story of the ‘holy now’, and tell us that we live in the best of all worlds. They say whatever happens is for the best, yet, when we reach for the bottle to silence our overactive minds yet again, we wonder, is that really the most perfect moment God has envisioned for us? Again we ask, isn’t there a better way?

Awareness simply observes what is; there is no judgement; no better, and no worse. We can be aware when the excited blood shoots through our veins, and we can be aware at the depth of our blues. We can certainly be aware when the hand reaches for the bottle to drink away the problems our overactive mind generates.

Be here now—awareness is present as well. Be aware when you admire ‘good’ and judge evil’. Be aware when the mind plots to improve itself. Be aware when the mind wants to drink itself into oblivion. As a matter of fact, no matter what the circumstances and no matter what you think, feel or do, simply be aware! Awareness is the Way!
