Is the Peacock Vain?

Any desire to be noticed,
the urge to be accepted and loved,
anything you do to get someone’s attention
is the most inner-most starvation
for your authentic nature.
(Guthema Roba)

Look at the peacock; is he vain? He surely wants to be noticed. He most certainly has the urge to be accepted and make some loving to the hen passing by. Is he starving inside or is he ready to embrace his authentic nature?

The quote shows us that ‘Heaven’ and hell, purpose and ego, lust and love are mostly an inner realization, an embracing of what is rather than what appears to be. God has created this maya—this playground called earth—to express ourselves. How we do it is up to us.

Whether we express our self or our Self is entirely up to us. When we run after the glitter on the horizon we will run forever because the illusionary void inside can’t be filled. When we collect the diamonds in the rough, our authentic nature shines through.
