Like a firefly without a light
You were there like a slow torch burning,
I was a key that could use a little turning.
So tired that I couldn't even sleep.
So many secrets I couldn't keep.
Promised myself I wouldn't weep.
One more promise I couldn't keep.
It seems no one can help me now.
I'm in too deep,
there no way out.
This time I have really led myself astray.

We hear it again and again, the frustrations of fellow travelers who know that they are on an Awakening journey but for some strange reason they are bereft of their sleep. To add salt to injury, they often wake up at exactly the same time, 3am, 3:03 am, etc. I know because it happened to me too and it took me years to recover from it. I hope you can turn it around much quicker than me, even though I don’t complain in hindsight either. Do you know that I started my writing career because of my sleepless nights. Writing spiritual blogs and later books gave me something meaningful to do. I also became friends with a spiritual fellow traveler who lived on the other side of the planet at a time. We had regular meetings at 4:44 am my time in those days. Now that my sleep pattern have finally reverted back to normal I fount that I could do this again.
Who knows why exactly we have these sleep pattern interruption early in our Awakening journey. Maybe our energy patterns are out of balance, as the kundalini energy slowly but surely gets rewired along our spine. Maybe it is the ‘Dark Night of the Soul’ that we need to live through until we have literally enlightened every dark corner of our Soul. In the middle of the night our psychic powers are so depleted that our demons can take us for a ride and there is little we can do about it. I recommend meditation. It is our monkey mind that keeps us up at night and meditation keeps our ‘runaway trains of thought’ safely in the station. Meditation also sets the rising kundalini cycle in motion and I can assure you that there is nothing more pleasant and meditative than feeling this energy going up and down your spine while lying flat on our stomach in bed.
