Awakening: In Transit to Something New

Equilibrium: a state in which opposing forces are balanced

In Peaceful Warrior, the gas station operator Socrates was minding his own business until a confused college athlete required his assistance. That’s when the life changed for both of them and a journey of teaching and transformation started. Can you imagine being an enlightened blue collar worker, patiently waiting for a potential student to show up, but somehow not minding either way? That could well be a state of enlightenment. Is that what you are truly after?

An Awakening journey kicks in one day and we find ourselves in transit to something completely new. We had been in a carefully crafted equilibrium of relationships, job, spiritual beliefs, hang-ups, you name it. One day though, all of that gets shaken up and we realize how restricted and boring the life of the ordinary Joe and Jill really is. Yet, we hardly feel superior as we get pulled into the whirlpool of changes and emotions, not knowing where to cling to and which shore to embark on next.

Who knows exactly what new equilibrium awaits us, but our overactive mind is happy to tell a nice story. Surely, we are one of the called 144 000 light-workers bringing the new Awakening phase. Our story deserves to be heard to spread the gospel, right? You know what, not everyone has to become the next Eckhart Tolle; not everyone needs airtime with Oprah. We already had a Mother Theresa and Mahatma Gandhi, why don’t you find your spiritual niche instead. Enlightenment is about being, not doing. It’s about the higher vibration that we are sending out in the enlightened state, and we can do that anywhere, sitting in a coffee shop minding our own business, or working at a gas station as well.

Who knows what the new normal looks like for us spiritual travelers, but one day we will be in equilibrium again. Enlightenment is peace of mind. It means that we are in equilibrium no matter what. Can you already envision where you end up next? What is your heart telling you?
