The psychologists listened to him with interest and respect but at the end of the talk admitted that their own experience with their clients was very different. According to their observations, it takes time to overcome childhood traumas. It is a process to stand up to our fears. Break-through experiences need to be worked towards before they can be enjoyed. J. Krishnamurti and the psychologists couldn’t see each other’s views and agreed to disagree.
Both views are valid. It takes times to awaken to our ego’s presence, just as the ego can only be transcended here and now. Life shakes us a bit just to show us what is hidden deep inside of us and allows us to awaken to our ego’s damaging presence. When I wondered how I could communicate this insight I came up with the image of the crouching tiger. The tiger sits there waiting for the passing prey with an intensity that allows him to leave the gates at 60 miles per hour.
Honor the past, it has prepared you for the present moment at hand. Suffering was meaningful but today is a great day to break through!
