Trust the Process

Liberation is not the result of some means skillfully applied, nor of circumstances. It is beyond the causal process. Nothing can compel it. Nothing can prevent it.
(Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj)

Jed McKenna, in Spiritual Enlightenment, the Damnedest Thing, had a funny anecdote that speaks to the mysterious spiritual Process that many of us have signed up for. He mentioned that one day a ‘housekeeper’ from India showed up and took charge of all organizational details of his little ashram in Iowa. She never really explained the why, but somehow she just knew that it was her spiritual calling to help out. But then, he added laughingly, if Lord Krishna ever told her to slash him like sushi, she would do that too!

Well, I hope that my Process is a little less volatile than that of Jed McKenna’s Indian housekeeper, but in the end I understand what he is trying to communicate here. God has a way of speaking to us, and everyone who is on an Awakening journey marries a Process at the same time. Symbols come and go, people come and go, but the Process stays until the end. If this all sounds a bit mysterious and vague, you will get the smartest, kindest, most understanding Teacher there is, explaining the new Language to you and practicing It with you.

You may now ask, ‘what exactly is the Process?’, and I would ask back, ‘what Force made Neal Walsch write his ‘Conversations with God?’, or what induced Helen Schucman to channel Yoshua’s Voice in ‘A Course in Miracles’? We all have these Signs and divine messengers and they are different for all of us. There is only one requirement to be part of the Process and that is always to look in good faith for the next ‘Conversation with God’. God always finds us! Will there be confusing ego games and many lessons learned? Absolutely! Yet, as long as our innocence remains intact, learning the Process is also so much fun.

Turns out we can’t will yourself into Heaven, but we can trust the Process once It shows up.
