that Heaven is in earth,
and earth is in Heaven?
There are times when
we are here and now, and
times when we get lost.
When we work, love or play,
sometimes we are in Heaven,
but often we are as human as they come.
It’s ok—just accept!
A funny German ad campaign in Germany had the slogan, ‘not always, but ever more often’. Why can’t we embrace this slogan for our spiritual journey? Laugher, love, joy and peace of mind are signposts of the Way. We may not always experience the magic of the Way, but we will definitely become aware of our own self-imposed interferences ever more often. So what if we don’t have a perfect travel record. Let’s just accept it.
Doesn’t the Zen proverb day, ‘chop wood and carry water before enlightenment, chop wood and carry water after enlightenment’? Similarly, why don’t we just accept the mundane tasks at hand, and the same old conditioned reaction function to the occasional interference along the Way? As the saying goes, Heaven is in earth, and earth is in Heaven. So if it is our turn to chop the wood and carry water—let’s just accept it!
