Have you ever experienced lucid dreaming, that is, the ability to be awake within a dream? The dream experience is not different; we experience the same emotions as we do when we dream without being aware of it, yet, we have an additional degree of freedom; we can consciously steer the dream into the direction we like to experience.
The experience of Consciousness is the mirror image of the lucid dream experience in the sense that the screen plays without involvement of self, yet it is identical in the sense that we obtain a new degree of freedom. When a choice arises we have free will in the state of Consciousness, whereas the experienced self is always on auto-pilot.
