seeing the illuminated road before us.
The light beams are God’s Guidance,
the darkness our human handicap.
It’s always the same movie,
an interplay between darkness and light.
Yet, we are moving forward,
to a destination of our choosing.
We may have free-will, or everything might be programmed from day one and we are merely sitting in front of a screen with the projector playing in our head. Does it even matter in the end? Even if everything is pre-programmed, we still have to make the choice when the juncture appears in front of us.
The older I get the more I realize that will-power is overrated. How does it matter that we made the ‘right’ choice mustering all our inner strength? The very fact that it took effort getting there means that we will face this choice again, and again, until it has become easy as a child’s play.
Our life journey appears like a car ride. The car is riding on its own. What we provide is the steering. We are in the driving seat when we know what the choice is all about. Will-power is not relevant; it’s the insight that catapults is towards our desired direction without ever looking back.
It’s only when the steering of our car has become automatic when we realize that the road-trip itself has lost all meaning. Instead of wondering, ‘are we there yet?’ we realize that this moment is as good as it gets. Let the projector keep projecting; let the junctures come and go, we don’t care. We are Home!
True, some time the sun will rise,
and we shall be in awe of the dawn.
Still, what’s missing in the present moment?
The music is playing on the radio.
Our loved one is talking.
The coffee’s fragrance keeps us awake.
Here and now is as good as it gets.
Isn’t it?
