The Roundtable of Inspiration

J. Krishnamurti, Ramana Maharshi, Sri Ramakrishna, to name just a few spiritual giants of the past, gave me the inspiration, the courage and strength to keep going on this somewhat lonely quest to leave the self behind. Everyone of them gave me an insight that helped me a little; but quite frankly, this quest has been entirely my own. It has to be that way. It was that way for each and everyone of them. J. Krishnamurti was outspoken against the guru model, whereas Ramana Maharshi and Sri Ramakrishna embraced it. JK was onto something new, we are outgrowing the traditional guru model. You are a God. You don’t need a God to remind you of this fact. The new model is democratic, everyone has to be one her own Buddha. We can, and should, inspire each other though.

Sometimes folks approach me with questions. Sometimes they are a little confused about the messages they receive, or are scared of the shadows they perceived, but after a chat or two they get their confidence back and continue on their merry way. I have nothing to teach that they themselves don’t already know. That’s how it works. We are all equals. We were born that way and we will die that way. Yes, we can be temporarily deluded. Sometimes someone has a little more that she can share with others. Eat your heart out at the spiritual banquet that these giants serve, but then go your merry way and feed those who come after you. That’s how it works.

At my old job I had a boss who had a brilliant idea that I am now using wherever I can. In a group of some 7-10 analysts who didn’t care for each other very much, he insisted that we meet once every week for an hour just hanging out with each other. We did that for some seven years and it worked magic. You could literally observe how the vibrations of the different folks aligned over the years, and when the crises hit, everyone rallied to the occasion and the group come through as one. That’s the model I follow here in the spiritual community as well. Create a network of likeminded who just hang out with each other. No teacher, no student, just a round table of inspiration.
