The world we see is the result of the glasses we wear. A few have rose-colored glasses on before life’s crude realities give them a black eye. A few others, consequently, see danger and opportunists everywhere. Most of us are somewhere in-between, without having perfect vision in either direction. We see the world in terms of what we aspire or fear.
Zen is the only real scientific spiritual discipline. The Zen sensei only concerns herself with 2020 vision and downplays what she sees in order not to bias the next generation of spiritual seekers. ‘Before enlightenment, chop wood and carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood and carry water.’ is as enthusiastic as you will ever hear them.
Catch 22 of the enlightenment quest is that we seek because we crave serenity, empowerment, love and the fusion with the Beyond, but that’s the very reason why we cannot see Oneness. We can only find what we already own. Seeking for something we want is projection, and that’s the lack of 2020 vision right there.
So how to solve the Gordian Knot? Concern yourself with what’s in front of you. Open the present life has to offer by being present. You must be deaf, dumb and blind not to see God embodied in everything and everyone. Start with what surrounds you; just observe, just be mindful of your inner cravings and fears. They disappear in the now.
Tell us what you find. Show us what you see. Become a writer, a poet, an artist, or a leader and share the ‘no-self’ vision with the rest of us when you got it. Take off your glasses now and enjoy the 2020 vision of your third eye, the loving feeling of your heart, and the understanding of your crown chakra.
