Purpose, passion and ‘no self’

You know I won't stop 'til it's done.

You need a man you can lean on, done.

You need some faith you can hang your dreams on.

Check 'em off one by one.

Done, Chris Janson

Spend a quarter of a century with the partner you fall in love with; send off your children to college or build a professional legacy over the same time period. ‘Done’ is perhaps a feeling of accomplishment you will have then. Our mission is important all right but the religious belief that God created us to perform our mission doesn’t go far enough. God created our mission so that we lose our self getting our job done.

We often get the question in the Spiritual Awakening Group, ‘what’s my purpose in life?’ and ‘how will I know what profession to chose?’ Well, how do you pick your life partner? Just follow your heart and the rest will follow. Passions first, purpose will find you. To turn JFK’s mandate on its head, ‘don’t ask what your mission can do what others, ask instead what your mission can do for you’. A mission well done dissolves our self.

Done!
