Just breathe!

I was playing golf with our youngest this summer, and given that we both have a competitive nature, we always played for money. To my surprise, whenever an important stroke came up, he gathered himself with an erect posture, breathed in and out rhythmically to calm his mind. He even mimicked the energy flow up and down his spine, and I was thinking to myself, ‘where on earth did he learn this from?’ I visualize these energy moves often but to my knowledge have never practiced them in front of the boys. In any case, good for him that he already knows the secret of prana yoga at the age of 14. When our energy flows freely, our thoughts stop and serenity prevails. It’s a fact of life that you can practice for yourself.

When I ran an Awakening survey among 40 of my spiritual friends, only half of them made a big deal out of the natural opening of  our energy centers, the remaining participants didn’t mention it. For me rhythmic breathing is an instant opportunity to return to the center of my being and re-gaining serenity. Yet, it’s a time-out of sorts. The underlying problems still remain when the thoughts return, but it is a priceless opportunity to gain a fresh perspective outside of our self-identification. It should be added that flowing kundalini energy also helps greatly with sleep. I used to have troubles and now fall asleep as I hit the pillow. Flowing kundalini energy has countless health benefits.
