The power of S-E-L-F

Once the internal bliss is enjoyed, the external happiness loses its charm. One who has tasted the inward bliss is naturally loving and free from envy, contented and happy with others’ prosperity, friendly and innocent and free from deceit.

It’s a joy to see someone who has made it to the other side. These friends are pure, happy, carefree, loving, enthusiastic, serene and innocent as little children. Sure, everyone has a bad day, but a signpost of enlightenment is that they recover from it sooner rather than later. I would describe a few of my friends who participated in the awakening survey as ‘already free’. One day the veil simply lifts for good. In my experience there is the day for all of us when the light at the end of the tunnel turns into blazing sunlight. Until then though a little work of self-discovery, letting go of who we thought we were, and jumping over some self-inflicted obstacles unfortunately still remain.

Recently I talked to a friend who had broken free just a few months ago. It happened from one day to the next. Excited she told me, “Every morning I wake up I wonder, ‘Is it still there?’, luckily it always is!” Good for her! As mentioned in the chapter on kundalini energy, I experienced a feeling of total freedom and bliss for a week. It was it I was walking on cloud 9 even though objectively nothing had changed in my life. Now this feeling of freedom comes and goes and that’s fine too. So instead of telling you a proven method how one can break free from self completely, let’s reflect when the self once again gets the better of us. Soon we realize that the magic of S-E-L-F is always at our disposal.
