Do you know what gestational diabetes is? It’s that strange condition when women have to watch their diet and measure their sugar levels during pregnancy even though they are just fine after the baby has been delivered. Somehow the pregnancy activates a medical condition that otherwise is in remission.

 

Isn’t that how most of us experience the state of awakening? We alternate between ‘story of me’ and self missing in action. Free when the going is GOoD, but bound as everyone when life reminds us of our deprivations, fears and scarcities. Why do we fight it? Isn’t every trigger a potential birth of freedom? 

 

Don’t tell pregnant women they are free to eat as much cake as they want if they have gestational diabetes. Likewise, don’t tell spiritual seekers that they can be free of the ‘story of me’ if they have real life interferences to deal with. Life is our spiritual coach. We break free one delivery at a time.
