True Learning

True learning is if you don’t immediately decide how things it should be. True learning is to pay attention to your attitude and your interpretation of a situation. You have to let go of your “should” and the knowledge you have accumulated, only then can you truly learn. This kind of understanding is real learning.

For example, you demand that your kids should listen to you, “I am the mother!  You have to listen to me!”, you say and then put lots of demands on them.  So we have to see that we carry around a lot of “should” and mental concepts. When we manage to let go of this, real learning occurs. You let go and then you have space to accept new energy and new relationships.

When we can learn like this, there will be new things that keep flooding in. It means that we are very humble and modest, and do not learn with old concepts and ideas.  You keep emptying yourself out, and as you do, new things will come in. When new things come in, you can have a different life. Mentally, you are a new person. This is the basic and foundation of true learning.

If you find Suzhen Liu’s writings helpful, please check out her book, ‘Letting Go—Release Your Suffering’ on Amazon. The book is a joint project. Suzanne Yang translated it from the original Chinese Publication into English and we published it with Balboa Press.
