When it dawns on you that you are escaping from something, take a good look at what this distraction hides. What is the root cause of your unwellness, of your anxiety, of your restlessness? Sometimes understanding the root cause brings the relief sometimes working on the root cause is the only way through. Sometimes a little escape is just what the doctor ordered, as long as we are honest with ourself and are committed on cleaning up when the hang-over sets in.
Self-inquiry is the ongoing commitment to understanding who we are at the deepest level. When you truly observe life patterns, you find that we are not only always encouraged to inquire into our deepest held motives and belief systems, but we are also shown a way to let go of all sources of suffering. Engage, understand, let go!
