We will feel anxious about the coming event, for example, ‘what if we can’t pay our mortgage!’ That is fear. You don’t need to have fear to solve your issues. We can also ‘fear’ this issue without experiencing actual fear.
People always misunderstand this too, if you are not scared, that doesn’t mean that you don’t have an issue to confront. The truth is, if you are not scared, then you have more capacity to face what needs to get done. You have to realize that the root cause of your issue is your fear. You have to differentiate “the real issue that needs to be solved” and “your psychological fear that needs to be addressed.” We often confuse these two.
This sounds so easy but you have to face the root cause of your fear to know how it is. If you cannot face this fear, anxiety will keep surfacing and the problems will be back in another form. Unless you transform or transcend this fear, you will not be at peace, but real transcendence doesn’t come about by thinking.
It takes a lot of learning to know what makes you anxious and uneasy. You cannot just know it without learning. You have to pay attention. Paying attention is the most basic and important step. It’s the key. This attention is even more important than “grasp the issue at hand.” When you can solve your issue without anxiety and fear, then it can be solved and finished completely.
