Observation and Judgement

Student:  I feel I don’t have enough motivation.

Suzhen:  What you said here is the key. From this we can tell that you are forcing yourself. You are pressuring and oppressing yourself. How can you still understand yourself at this point?  When you put your focus on how you should be, then you cannot understand who you truly are on the deepest level. We often tell ourselves we should achieve some standards.  These kinds of standards only bring us frustration, fear, chaos, and a feeling of being powerless.

Very often we tell ourselves how we should be, but then we don’t understand our self.

For the past experiences, we will filter them according to our preference, delete some, keep some, and then keep a focus. When challenges arise, we will react according to our focus point, and this focal point is also our limitation because it is not new so is the reaction occurs from the perspective of our past. This focal point is our mind.

If you find Suzhen Liu’s writings helpful, please check out her book, ‘Letting Go—Release Your Suffering’ on Amazon. From personal experience with the Letting Go Method, I can highly recommend this book!
