To be receptive to the highest truth and to live therein one must be without before and after, untrammeled by all their acts or by any images they ever perceived; empty and free, receiving the divine gift in the eternal now and bearing it back unhindered in the light of the same with praise and thanksgiving.
Meister Eckhart (1260 – 1328)
When Eckhart Tolle submitted his book, The Power of Now, for publication one publisher rejected him on the account that this theme was as old as spirituality itself. They turned out to be both right. Eckhart Tolle in his belief that this book would an instant classic, as well as the reviewer who knew that the power of now theme has been around for a while. Meister Eckhart, Eckhart borrowed his pen name from him as well, wrote this 800 years ago!
