Free from desire,
you realize the mystery.
Caught in desire,
you only see the manifestations.
Yet mystery and manifestations
arise from the same Source.

Some spiritual folks advise us to be the witness, not the actor. At best this is an introduction to the higher state of being for there is no separation, the witness is the actor. Perception acts!
The spiritual feat is getting the self out of the Way. Caught in desire we may still grasp the meaning of the mystery, but it may happen too late as the actor acts, and the perceiver watches the China on the floor.
