Enjoy God’s present

We need to be here and now is the battle cry of spirituality, and if we cannot have this spiritual experience for one self-imposed interference or the other, we need to be mindful of the games we play with ourselves. Sounds familiar?

Do you see what we are doing here? It’s striving, isn’t it? Just as the ordinary folks run after their dreams we are asked to strive for that enlightened moment or at least cleanse ourselves of the self so that we are ready for it later.

What’s wrong with accepting the present moment as is and learning to “fall back” to observe the moment just as is. If we happen to be greedy, fine, let’s watch ourselves be greedy without doing anything about it. Let’s just see what happens.

The psychologists John Tierney and Roy Baumeier wrote the book Willpower in which they identified that every conscious striving works like a muscle; eventually we grow tired if we strive too much. In contrast, “falling back” we can always do.

J. Krishnamurti said, the moment we are aware that we are unaware we are in fact aware. That’s God’s present, the ability to “fall back” without trying to be but just be one with the present moment. Higher beings cannot feel being human. What a privilege to be alive! So, enjoy God’s present while you can!
