Just move on from the “me” identification

This life, an illusion based upon [our] likes and dislikes, is an empty dream, which appears, as if real, during the sleep [of ignorance], but which is found to be false when one wakes up [into Self-Knowledge).

I had a dream in which I was back at work and gave a pretty ineffective and boring presentation. I woke up and I was surprised how realistic the dream felt when I had it, but then I moved on and pretty much forgot about it. Imagine if we woke up from the present life like this one day, simply moving on from everything as interesting experience but pretty much irrelevant. Should we wait for some time in the future when this happens, perhaps caused by death? Can we look through the likes and dislikes that we cling to and repel from that give us our self identification today? I was surprised in the dream how little the poor performance at work meant to me. In the past doing well at work would have meant the world to “me.”
