Great events make me quiet and calm;
it is only trifles that irritate my nerves.

Maybe you can resonate with that observation. There is a great inner silence that takes over when the monkey mind has been wowed into submission. Yet, relying on external events to regain this serenity is not the answer. Instead, we can look at the workings of the monkey mind without escaping, analysis, projection, inertia, excitement, etc. Stay with the irritation—be this irritation—and watch the great inner silence emerge behind it. Observe without the observer present.
