Quit Shadow Boxing

Awakening is always both psychological and spiritual. Indeed, it begins the moment we stop avoiding what hurts (or is uncomfortable) and

turn to face it directly.

I had a dream this morning. I was at work and did something to try to impress my boss. As many of you know, I quit my work a few years ago with the mission to spread the spiritual gospel instead, but at one point I asked myself, am I really doing anything different in the spiritual community. Maybe my writings and teaching put me just on another quest of getting recognition and being loved.

We are all in the same boat. The reason we can’t see it is that the desire to be loved and be someone of essence hides in our different aspirations, fears and life stories. We have been told that success and happiness lie in convincing the outside world of our worth when in fact everything we ever wanted has been given to us in the depth of our being.

We have to stop shadow boxing to claim our inheritance. We have to look right into our pain body and look for the answers there. It’s hard to sit with the pain. It’s not pleasant to face the fears we have been avoiding all our lives, but what alternative is there? The upside is that these fears and pain bodies are not real, but they have to be embraced and understood before letting go.

Embarking on a mission connects us with the root of our problem. Instinctively we always know where to look, which partner to choose, which line of work to embrace and which tribe to hang out with. We already have all the answers we are looking for. We just have to understand that resolution will never come from the outside. Being happens when the rubber meets the road.
