On Meditation

Lots of people have difficulty meditating. You hear often how boring and annoying it is just to sit there without doing anything.  Yet, ask yourself why it is so hard. Perhaps it is because you suddenly realize how restless and negative you are. Perhaps it is good time to find out why you have difficulty sitting there.  Is there anything serious bothering you at this time? Could it be that your mind runs endless bothersome loops? Could it be that these loops run your life without you knowing it?

Meditation is just like many skills we have to master in our life.  It is difficult and perhaps even torturous in the beginning. But perhaps you can think of it like an unfinished diamond hidden in black coal. It is ugly and rough on the outside.  However, if you can recognize that there is a huge diamond inside, you will definitely work hard to get it out.  Same with meditation.  If you can trust that there is a gem inside, even you cannot see it at this moment, you will still work hard to get to it.  Keep practicing your meditation even you cannot taste any sweetness in the beginning.  Eventually, the bitterness will go away, and the sweetness will be profound in your session.

Meditation gives us a chance to accept and cherish ourselves as we are.   You probably have difficulty recognizing your beauty at this moment because all you can see now is just the rough appearance. Give yourself a chance.  Soon you will be amazed how beautiful and precious you are!  Have fun!
