Merging with Life

God is an "open system", Erich Fromm asserts in his book "You Shall Be as Gods". The idea is that no matter how far we shoot into the stratosphere, there will still be infinite room to expand from there. This notion resonates well with a remark God made in Neale Walsch's "Conversations with God". He said that he is still not it - there are still infinitely higher dimensions to the voice that dictated Neale Walsch's book.

We are earthbound so we can only jump into the air for so long; and if we build a rocket we may again strive after yet another phallus symbol. Sure, we can try to let go of our ego symbols - power, aggression, lust, craving for security and dominance, but sooner or later they will fool us again, wrapped in some idealistic clothing. Every thought is tainted, just as every feeling can lead us astray. And while we can meet God when we are still, sooner or later the voice in our head starts chatting again. But you know what, that's all perfectly fine. Earthbound as we are, we can be part of this open system with the help of the Tao.

God is a big word and our minds - infinite as they are - may still only be poorly equipped to understand this Force. Perhaps we should adopt the Jewish philosophy and just not talk about Yahweh - period. The way of the Tao is an invitation to use life as a perfect opportunity of transcendence, whether you believe in God or not. You live in the "best of all worlds" from the perspective of merging with this open system. Thoughts, feelings, your conscious and subconscious drives all melt in the holy now life confronts you with. If you embrace life you have a shot at transcending the "I" moment by moment and you become part of "I Am" instead. Get in tune with life's beat and you are already there - a meaningful part of the open system. Everyone can join on this magnificent journey - just show up for life and the Tao will do all the heavy lifting.
