Talking or acting spiritual is of no use. Spirituality is about transforming yourself. (Sadhguru)
Spiritual Awakening is a little like an earthquake. We do what we do, we may be happy or miserable, but then one day there is a big rumble and the world we used to experience is turned upside down. Sadhguru‘s Awakening was perhaps the gentlest one. After a sathori moment he just sat there on end gazing into space and the world had moved on him permanently. But then there are many not so pleasant ones as well. Eckhart Tolle was in depression during his student days and reported that he was swallowed by a vortex before his Awakening. The 19th century mystic Sri Ramakrishna was so desperate for Kali Maa that he was just about to kill himself when Kali Maa Herself descended and took his sword away. Jesus spent 40 days in the desert as we all know, and Buddha spent seven years in meditation.
Not everyone needs to be enlightened, but nearly everyone in our spiritual community transforms towards something new. I have heard many stories from my spiritual friends, drugs, alcohol, traumas, abusive relationships, rape, and endless pain bodies that one day just got too overwhelming so that something shifted. But not all transformations were caused by pain. I have also met a few ‘happy go lucky’ folks who one day simply Awoke to a magical world. With interest I studied Sir Alister Hardy’s table on the origin of mystical experiences in a large study. Many of you know that I fall in the first category, with a genetic disposition to bi-polar that coupled with a stressful job and a former inability to express my emotions one day just shifted something inside of me. It took me about seven years to make the transition to the new state complete and I now feel called to help others in their transformation.
Not everyone has to become a Sadhguru, Eckhart Tolle, or Adyashanti, and I certainly don’t apply for their job. I leave it up to a higher Authority to decide in which capacity I can assist the Ascension wave. The message that I will repeat again and again is that it is a process getting from the old stage to the new one. Never mind the Sadhgurus and Adyashantis of this world, we real people need spiritual companions and healers to make the transformation quick and painless. The spiritual earthquake often takes out old structures and some of them have to be rebuild over years. Especially with trauma, it is a process to let go of the pain of the past. I certainly have moved on, with a new calling, new friends, but also still the same family to care for.
