Don’t force yourself

Don’t force yourself doing meditation or the letting go practice.  If you really don’t want to do it, just don’t do it.  Never force yourself to do anything. Forcing is one kind of violence.  If you use violence to get something, you only create another struggle.  In reality you don’t want to do it but you feel that you have to do it, and you need to do it very well. So if you force yourself, then this is using violence and force and you cannot do something well by using force.  In our life, we force ourselves to do a lot of things and that’s why we are angry and rebelling.  We cannot help ourselves by being this way.  When we learn to respect ourselves, we can slowly develop the ability to observe the finer details of things.

But if we force ourselves, we are using our will power. Will power can only go to the surface level.  We need to have basic understanding about this phenomenon, only then we can go deeper and deeper and not stay in conflict.  So the key is to know your true longing but not force yourself with the help of the mind. It is very important to know yourself.  When you are forcing yourself and you still feel, “ oh yes, this is important, I should do this”, then you have a problem.  You are still far from being on the learning path.
