You think your kids need to go to an Ivy League school, and then you start the process of pushing them, so that you and your kids will indulge in your “thinking” and do what you “think” should happen. This is not an observation. When we observe, we will notice that there arises a thought “ I want him to go to an Ivy League school.” This is very different from you taking action and trying to scheme your kids into the top schools. To pay attention to your thoughts is to the root cause of desire and competitiveness; to execute what you “think” is taking an endless loops of action and karma.
Similarly, you must identify with some thoughts whenever your anger and suffering become repetitive. You are not aware. So the key is to see who is creating this issue, not to solve the issues. If we can pay attention to the trouble maker, then our life can have the chance to be different.
