I asked Meta AI (with Llama 3.2) yesterday where A Course in Miracles overlap with J. Krishnamurti’s teachings and where they differ. This was the answer:
Overlaps
Non-duality: both emphasize the illusionary nature of separation and the unity of all existence.
Inner transformation: both focus on individual transformation through mindfulness and self-awareness.
Letting go of ego: both encourage transcending ego and conditioned thinking.
Forgiveness and release: both teach forgiveness as a means to inner peace (my edits: not so sure about this one—it’s more insight for JK)
Differences
Spiritual path: ACIM presents a more structured spiritual path with lessons and guidance, whereas Krishnamurti rejects organized spirituality.
Authority: ACIM relies on an inner guide—Holy Spirit (my edit: and the believe in the “older brother” Jesus), while Krishnamurti rejects external authority.
Meditation: Krishnamurti emphasizes mindful inquiry, whereas ACIM encourages prayer and contemplation.
Goal: ACIM aims for inner peace through forgiveness, while Krishnamurti seeks freedom from conditioning.
This is an amazing side by side of two spiritual/philosophical works that require a lot of study to grasp. Over the years I have been more pulled into J. Krishnamurti’s line of study though he never was able to outline how we can follow him to that timeless here and now that he claimed he was living in. Before that, I spent years practicing ACIM in a competitive corporate environment and had spectacular results implementing it. There is no wrong or right. Follow the teachings that appeal to you. Ramana Maharshi would have concluded that Bhakti (the gospel of love and faith) stands side by side with the gospel of jnana (self inquiry) as long as the student is committed to either or both.
