The most confusing recommendation, in my opinion, is the claim many spiritual authors have that you have the right and ability to live in perfect harmony now. Well, they are right kind of, but only if you really have the guts, the psychological insight and the strength to tackle all your outstanding issues now. This rarely is the case, and as you skirt certain issues that you need to confront you will experience pain and disharmony.
The advice that you have the right to harmony encourages many to change jobs, cut out old but now annoying friends, get a divorce, etc. If you do this, you probably overlook that these folks give you a marvelous healing opportunity. Change may bring temporary relief, but the unresolved issues will come back in different form. Tackle them now you have a marvelous healing opportunity. Yes, you have the right to live in perfect harmony, but first you have some work to do, so let's get it done.
