Surrender to life, but don't surrender your desires. Surrendering to life means to accept all problems and obstacles life throws at you, while surfing according to your desires on the waves that rise and fall. Trust that a creative solution is out there to manifest your desires in a way that is consistent with your spiritual path. And if you can't, then you will understand why your desire implied an attack on yourself, which is a nice nugget of wisdom to have.
