When I was a teenager I used to wake up within my dream. Some monster tried to get me, but as I was trying to run away, I couldn't. It appeared as my if my feet were stuck in deep mud. At this point I would wake up within the dream as I remembered that this scene is always associated with the state of dreaming.
Spiritual enlightenment is exactly like that. You are waking up within the dream and realize that everything is just a mental bubble. Yet, there still is a difference between waking up within the dream and becoming a conscious creator of your dream and walking up altogether. Well, that seems to be the difference between the enlightened folks who see what lies 'beyond' and never return to our bubble, and those waking up and returning, often with the mission to help other folks along their path.
