In Search of Power

I remember a psychologist describing the case of a client who was looking for her center of power and she figured that she was not forceful enough in her business dealings. When she was invited to a costume ball she wanted to dress up as an Amazon and thought that this would be a perfect symbol of her new found female power. But somehow she had a flashback remembering a trip to Italy with a friend who suffered from multiple sclerosis. Her therapist told her that the name of the Italian city translated into shadow. It was then that she discovered that the fear of being helpless was her shadow and that 
in her desire to become tough and forceful she was just running away from her shadow.

The search of empowerment is a delicate one. There is natural power and you happen to be born with it. If you try to compensate your fears by going in the opposite direction, you can also move away from your power center. When you operate at your natural power center you will feel fulfilled and be at peace, yet you will command power effortlessly. Life is search for that equilibrium and you will get plenty of clues along the way. Just remember that not everything is gold that shines along the way
